I should really count them up for the record.

I've had James Ellroy's The Black Dahlia on my shelf for awhile so it became my carrying around book during the holiday shopping season. But if you haven't read it, go away because I imagine I will get spoilerish

If you're interested, The Black Dahlia is the first of the "LA Quadruplet" stories. You can read them all individually (in fact, I read the last one first, unaware there had been 3 "prequels"), but they do kinda tie together thematically. What follows is The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential (which the movie DIDN'T follow at a certain point) and White Jazz.
