Why? I honestly want to know. If you are conservative and/or voted for Bush this election, I want to know. I'm not going to make a big deal about this whole thing, but I encourage any republicans out there to leave a comment about why you voted for Bush. Leave it anonymously or anything, it doesn't matter. Just please don't give any vague responses ( Read more... )

daniel, here are the things that make me optimistic:

-when your generation is of voting age, they will not make the mistake a lot of my peers did in 2000 of not voting. you will be aware and demanding and take action in what matters to you. I think this election was like catch-up, too little too late. you'll never make that mistake.

-this year the percentages (based on my poor memory) won by each candidate in each state were even closer in many cases than in 2000, showing there is SOME amount of growing awareness. not everyone is blind.

-I predict that the value of our disappointment and frustration will be in the subcultures and intellectual riots that will crop up as a result. groups of angry people actually using their energy productively, because if we didn't realize it was serious before, hopefully we do now.

ps I hope no one asassinates Bush, because then Cheney would be president! shudder! see you friday!

cause we need the war, is the main reason why i voted for him. i think we needed to react strongly so we show the world that we arent gonna take that shit, if we didnt react, it was just gonna keep happening. i know you say when did iraq come into play, idk, no one knows, but they were a threat, and we helped remove a terrible person from power. now you are asking, "but bobby, why are we still there?!?!?" and then i go, "because dude if we left now the country would be in worse condition than what it was in". and then you are gonna ask about why we arent in other contries with terrorists, and then i am gonna say idk, we will be tho. idk dude, the war is why i voted, and cause kerry is a tool. but dude i met kerry once and he looked sad, and i asked, dude kerry why the long face? (good one)!

Personally, I think all war is pointless. But if people can justify it sometimes, fine. But this war deserves a "WTF?!?" It really came out of nowhere. We weren't having problems *at the time* with Iraq. Dubya just wanted to finish ole Poppy Bush's work. 9/11, we originally blamed Afghanistan. (Remember? No one else seems to) And it's not just liberals saying this war is pointless. It's a lot of other people. Because it IS pointless ( ... )
