Just finished Beverly Lewis's trilogy Annie's People. Life in the Amish "world" -- at least the Old Order -- is way more complicated than I realized!! So sad, too

I was with my dad's parents; our reunion was at a campground not far from Cedar Rapids and Ottumwa...matter of fact, I ran into 2 youth groups that were camping together, and I knew one girl who'd been in my brother's class in Malaysia. *LOL* (Her parents are/were missionaries to Hong Kong; I also knew her older sister and brother.)
My relatives and I stopped into one of the Colony's "grocery" stores; quite interesting. No name-brand labels on food, but I did buy a Swiss army knife and a jar of yummy homemade apple butter.
