Isn't it ironic how she is such a perfect illustration of the real answer to the question--the disdain for learning among today's youth and in the popular media, and the resulting poor quality education provided to far too many children. (One wonders whether the pageant coaches encourage girls who actually can speak intelligently--and clearly this isn't one--to try to dumb it down a little.)

There are a number of people who say/write "USAmericans" rather than "Americans" when referring to citizens of the USA, in an attempt to be more precise, since the Americas also include Mexico, Canada, and all of South America. I'm not saying that's why this young woman said it, of course...she just isn't very bright.
