Given the recent 'revelations' about the VA (oddly enough, many of these same 'revelations' have surfaced before, but I don't recall whether it was during the Clinton or Reagan administrations), I tend to agree with your assessment. These soldiers only seem to have worth so long as they are fighting and dying, and even then, their worth to TPTB is questionable.
