"It would be better, in my opinion, to not have a CPAC at all than to have one that presents conservatism as a hostile, people-hating ideology," ....

Excuse me, but isn't that exactly what today's brand of conservatism is?

Is it not the job of the editor to act as a fail-safe when people write books? If I had that manuscript in my hand, I'd act (as I do in my professional life as an editor) as devil's advocate and throw up these concerns, knowing that they may -and will - come up later. You can't have a half-assed book on internment published without expecting some backlash. The editors were supposed to cover her ass, or, at the very least, act as critics by double-checking and asking questions regarding her material, and by acting as a back up for information. I'd be right there with my red pencil, asking, along the margins, "er... what about the Japanese internment camps during WWII? You'll have to back that up, Miss Thang!"

In all honesty, however, bound by morality, I would reject outright a project that was written in defense of internment - concentration, let's call a spade a spade -camps.

Coulter couldn't come up with a quip like "those men leaned a little too far to the left, if ya know what I mean..." when asked why three engagements failed? She can run rampant with the word faggot, but she can't turn her speech a little blue for more laffs and guffaws? She doesn't have to turn it into a segment from a Lisa Lampanelli show, but still... All she can do is tuck her hair behind her ear and cry "invasion of privacy." She could have turned that around, but she is not clever enough.

These are the ugliest and most vile of Republicans -the lunatic fringe conservatism.
