wow what an ass! So living with a child predator who owns a computer full of kiddie porn is like a vacation from life cause he didnt have to go to school?! o.O

It just upsetting that some people don't see that this kid's life has been seriously fucked.

hey I posted a short film on my LJ here
(its flocked but you are on my flist) called Touch directed by Jeremy Podeswa based on the short story My Lover's Touch by Patrick Roscoe. Its about a kid who was kidnapped at age 8 and kept in a small room and abused for over 4 years. It is extremely powerful, very dark and depressing but this case reminded me of it and it shows that once a child is "saved" everything not ok the damage has been done and it takes a long long time to truly save that child.

The kid was seen playing outside while his "captor" played games online (and on webcam). The kid was seen driving the captor's vehicle unsupervised. He had access to telephones, and neighbors. This is not the same as being locked in a basement for 4 years. Also, there was no mention of sexual abuse.

It is not clear how much damage was done - only time will tell, but it's likely that if he was traumatized, it was a lot less than your example.

I can't imagine that the situation you describe was in existence from day one of the abduction. What did the child have to go through, I wonder, before the kidnapper felt securely enough that the child wouldn't run away or turn him in?

I didn't say it was the same thing there is a huge difference. Its just that some people think once a child has been saved from abuse the trauma is over and it isn't. Abuse is a abuse just and everyone deals with it differently. Something that may have happened to me may have extremely fucked me up but to another person they can move on. I just feel bad that this kid's face is everywhere and they are questioning his actions he was 11 when he was taken, that is just so so young.

Also, there was no mention of sexual abuse.

No there wasn't but if the rumors are true that he had kiddie porn or had kidnapped other boys, I doubt he kidnapped these two boys for just company but hey maybe I am wrong and he just had a really cool two player game and didn't have any friends to play it with.

I agree with Bill O' on this one. I think the kid was kidnapped, but the kid had ample opportunity to get out if he wanted to and had chosen not to.

He had friends in the area he hung out with, had a bike he rode around on. Had internet access that he actually went to his own website and asked his parents how long they would look for him. To put the frosting on the cake the kid had an XBOX Live account where he played video games online.

Does this really sound being held against you're will? Perhaps it started off that way, but it sounds to me like eventually the guy trusted the kid that the kid didn't want to go home and had nothing to worry about.

He's a child I'm not passing fault off the guy that kidnapped him, I just think people need to recognize that this was not a typical kidnapping or at least it didn't end up like one.
