Ahhhh... Monument Valley. Well, welcome to the Grand Canyon state! Here in AZ, there's lots of road trip possibilities, whether you like hiking, cultural diversity, or the open vastness of the southwest. Canyon de Chelly (pronounced "Canyon de Shay") is amazing and you should definitely see it (as well as the standard recommendations). A trip out to the Hopi reservation is a lot of fun (and a lot of driving), but the trip takes you along old Route 66, through Winslow, and across some Navajo lands. You're also not too far from the VLA and Santa Fe, NM.

I encourage you to visit Tucson, if only to get away from the political redness of Maricopa County, but also because we have the Saguaro National Parks. Of course, if you're in the area, I'd be honored if you let me know - 1st round is on me. :)

Oh! And definitely try frybread. And eat at restaurants where the menu isn't in English. :)

I look forward to many weekend excursions away in coming months while the weather is still nice.

Also, let me know if you ever get up here to Phoenix!
