I never could get used to the fact that when I taught the Scopes Trial, I had students who outright rejected evolution. Still blows my mind.

I had a student who once said that Jesus drank Welch's, not wine. We made up the wine bit after. And it was Welch's, not even generic grape juice. I really could only stare at her.

I also had a student who said he was a direct descendant of Jesus, but Jesus had no children.

I've had a guiding principle for most of my life: I will never live in Texas and I will never live in Florida. And while I know fine, intelligent people who are from or happen to live in both states ... I will never live in Texas and I will never live in Florida.

Oh, and Carl Hiaasen is THE shit. I loves him.

Based on that, I can guarantee that you never want to live in Tennessee nor South Carolina. The latter two states make the former two states look as liberal as California or Vermont...
