I'm not sure about the LJ strike either! I don't know...I'll post if I feel like it, but if I don't post, it's not because of the strike. Kinda like you ;)

Yes, you can upload as many moodthemes as you want, which is awesome because I have about 12, haha. I've started my animated Sam moodtheme, btw, yay! I hope it turns out alright... I can't seem to make animations small enough for LJ's icon size limits, but thankfully moodthemes are boundless. :)
LJ is NOT taking away free accounts for new users. They're just putting an end to "basic" accounts, which is the type of account with no special features and no ads. People can still have free accounts, but they'll be the ones with more features and a few ads. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I might actually spam LJ tomorrow just to be ornery. ;)

Ah, I see... When I first started my LJ, I just went for the Plus account. It just looked more appealing to me and the ads really didn't bother me. If not many people go for the "basic" one anyway, I don't really see a problem.

I like the header, very snazzy. You can have more than 1 moodtheme but you can only use 1 at a time, I have 6 and I'm working on making a new one.
The boycot isn't just about basic accounts, it's also to do with SUP (LJ's new owners) censoring insterests like fanfiction, sex, depression - the things that most people came to LJ for because they could list those as interests without any repercussions. Wow, fanfiction??? That bothers them? It doesn't make any sense. So if you have "fanfiction" among your interests, they just don't make it show up? That is really odd. Has anyone contacted them regarding it and asked what their reasoning is behind it? It just seems so weird because "fanfiction" as an interest is so innocuous, IMHO. I looked at the links in your post and the person who posted about this didn't say anything about "fanfiction" being one of the terms. They just said something about homophobia and misogyny. Maybe I am not reading the correct info...?
And yeah, I know I am crossing the picket line, so to speak, with this reply. But I figure I've already posted here on LJ today anyway. I couldn't wait 6 more hours to post about something personal that has upset me and angered me. I had to vent and this was the only outlet I had to do so.
That is so odd. Has anyone asked them about it? I guess they wouldn't get an answer if they did, though...
It's as bizarre as fanfiction.net going after people for having song lyrics in their fics even if they credit the songwriters/performers. Maybe even more so...
