Watching MatsuKen like that would be difficult at the very least.. good thing you aren't more like me, otherwise it would have been nearly unbearable regardless of the lack of sound lol

Quite an overview of both book and movie...^^

Right? It was really something. The way the movie ran, I think there might be only a few moments where you would shed a tear. It really did lack a kind of warmth in the characters.

Besides being void of all emotions myself, I think the only reason why that one scene didn't get to me is because of how much I was thinking about it. You know how it goes.

You'd be surprised at what can move me to tears in both a good and bad way. I cry when I get angry too.. lol ( ... )

I read the novel first and felt that it was brilliant! I love the novel to pieces. I started to get to know Haruki Murakami after that and started to read his other works also. Currently, I've read around 5 or 6 of his work and still Norwegian Wood is by far my favourite. Don't really love the movie though. But it was still good I guess.=)

I'm actually not sure which ones I've read... it's probably around the five or six mark, too. Plus his two collections of short stories. I'm excited to get my hands on 1Q84! So far, I think Norwegian Wood is my favorite, too. I think it's the more straightforward approach that did it.There's a reason why it's his most popular novel, right?

*looks at her shelf on the book she just read* I ended Norwegian Wood lately and I really tried to watch the movie but I somehow couldn't. The novel is a calm, melacholic kind while in the movie just at the beginning everything was rushed for me. And I somehow couldn't feel the mood... Or maybe it was just me?

This is how I've summarized it to myself: both use the same characters, but tell different stories. It all depends on which story you like better. I liked the novel. :) Seems most did; but, then again, that's usually how it goes.

What did you think of the novel? Favorite moments, favorite characters? ^^

This just reminds me that i need to find a time to go read the novel! I have been telling myself to read the novel before watching the movie , now that i had seen your overview, it makes me more tempted to go search for the book now ;D

Indeed! Go read, go read! It's a good book. Quite melancholy, but good~ :) Make sure to let me know what you think about it.
