That's... wow. I just cannot, woah. You should make them figure out the daily rate for the box rental and credit you not because the money matters but because it was just so stupid.

If I recall correctly (the cable guy has already crashed) there is no such thing as a non-HD dvr. Honestly, if you're looking to record and don't use On Demand, go with Tivo.

Well, there used to be, but we haven't seen them in over a year around here. They've been phased out. We tend to be on the forefront of Comcast policy, though. :P It's entirely possible the phasing out hasn't reached your area yet, in which case, take advantage of it while you can.

As for the cost of Tivo, it is pricey, and you don't get On Demand. Personally? I wouldn't choose it, but my m-i-l just made the switch to cut costs over the long term.

I have to say, I love me my TiVo (HD), but at least in Seattle, once you go a hold of a physical human being, Comcast was pretty ok. That said, I know this 'cause one of their DVRs melted (physically) and ate all my shows, including half a season of Stargate. (Was Pissed). But the service guy was very nice, hooked me up a new one. That also didn't work. Good thing he had a backup spare.

All that said, I have no idea how much any of it costs, so, have them triple check next time?

(OT, but have you seen the Dr. Who LOLs up on Celebrity LOL? They're fab!)
