Crazy Old habits

So my mom just told me that when she was a young nurse, they used to remove all the plants/flowers from a patient's bedroom at night, because they would reduce the amount of oxygen in the room. They'd just put them all out in the hallway. How crazy is that?

Would that have been during the Reagan administration, by any chance? : )

That's *technically* true. Plants do consume oxygen at night, but VERY little (actually, they use oxygen all the time, but during the day, when they're photosynthesizing, they produce more than they use). Far less than the nurse who periodically checks on the patient.
