according to some googling, the Marriott downtown refers to itself as "The Marriott at University Place", but the only thing that comes up when you google University Place East Lansing IS the marriott. So I think it's their idea, and they're trying to turn their part of town into an official Area.

I donno, it could be a *really old* name for the area.

Or a failed redevelopment scheme ala Old Town (which, BTW, is way to yuppie to be sustainable).

maybe, but google didn't turn up anything, and there's a guy who's done tons of research on E.L. and has a website for it, so if it was the case, he should have it somewhere on his site.

Old Town is our only hope for turning into A2 - 2.
