Proof furry fandom is good for something

Wazaga over at DeviantArt is building what amounts to a fursuit based on her online persona for a visit to the United States. The reason being that she lives in Saudi Arabia and wants to remain true to the Muslim (or at least the Saudi version) requirements of women's dress and keep her body completely covered ( Read more... )

I think it's more like a furbaya, after the abaya. Which differs from a burqa, as far as I can tell, in the name alone, and the name is a regional thing.

That's an aspect that never occurred to me! Pretty clever way around the rule though I dunno what view the imams will have about it being substituted with a big blue lizard outfit.

I'd be more concerned about the saudi laws prohibiting women from talking to men. They recently jailed and flogged a bunch of people there for having a party from what I read the other day.

Well, talking to her further, she says when visits the states she usually just wears a head scarf and abaya. The fursuit is so she can go to a con and not have people snapping pictures of her face.
