[365days: Day 16] My neuroses, let me show them to you

So, it's not cold anymore -- in fact, last night got warm enough that we had to bring out the fan again (and I should be doing the laundry right now, but that's another story altogether). Don't get me wrong: despite all my complaining, I love cold weather; unfortunately, this time the cold made my face skin get so dry that it chaffed and an ( Read more... )

(I accidentally work in HIV for my day job; I hope poking my nose in isn't unwanted -- )

Have you considered getting a rapid mouth-swab test? They're usually pretty cheap, very accurate, and no needles involved. (More info if desired.)

That said, with everything you've described, it sounds like you're right on it being 100% negative.

Poking noses are never unwanted! :D

That test sounds like something I'd very much prefer to the usual ones. I'm sure they are not available in my city, but there are two big cities I visit frequently, so it might be worth investigating if there are hospitals who have them, or something similar.

And I knoooow. But it's nice to have it repeated, my psyche might accept it better if it comes from others :).

Okay, this response contains two things: overshare and too much personal information. Turn away at your own discretion.

It is highly unlikely you have HIV. If you've had HIV for the past 25 years, it would have advanced to AIDS and you would either be dead or dying of one of the various side effects of the disease: cancer, pneumonia, the common cold. You see what I mean? Unless you have a natural immunity to the virus, in which case you wouldn't be having immune system problems to begin with ( ... )

That exactly is what I've been telling myself, as well as "myself, stop being idiotic. HIV/AIDS is not going to mutate just for you".

Thanks for the advise, I've also been told to pay attention to what I eat, what products I use, things like that, and I think that keeping notes on all this might help some. I hadn't heard about the condition you mention -- I knew mothers with partners whose blood types are incompatible are unable to have a successful second pregnancy; not exactly the same, but still, intereeesting :D. It always amazes me how complicated a system our bodies are.

I also plan to delve into my family health history. And go for a general health check -- I only need to talk myself into it *whimpers*, but at my age I guess it's more than needed. I just need to find a doctor who's neither a jerk or bored with his/her job.
