My work laptop has two hard drives: one for the OS and all the programs, "C", another for the work-related documents, "D". I also have both my USB pens connected: one for the portable programs, "I", another for the not-work-related documents, "O". Once a week I connect my external hard drive, "S" and create a backup of D, I and O. When this ( Read more... )

According to a site called "Tom's Hardware" (www.tomshardware.com/) you do it like this:

Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management ->Storage->Disk Management

Right click the partition you want, and change the drive letter.

Warning: if you installed something on that drive, you may have to reinstall it because of the drive letter change. Also, shortcuts that point to that drive will not work afterwards.

Yeah, be very careful when you do it so you don't mess up anything important. *G*.

That's how I renamed I, O and S :). Unfortunatelly, F (the DVD unit) does not appear on the Disk Management list :(. I think I'll try to think of (F:) as the face of someone bitting their lip. Maybe. With some imagination :P.
