Four years ago I became mortified of Jeffrey Dahmer. It was occasionally a paralyzing phobia ( Read more... )

Bradin told me recently that I care about no one, and that he thinks I am incapable of changing that aspect of myself.

I think this experience shows I can care for other, even my enemies or people I fear, very much.

I think HE is the one who can't care for anyone.

Sounds to me like Bradin was being a major asshole. But people are almost always assholes after a break-up. You don't have to think he's a swell guy or anything, but getting caught-up in being angry with him will only lock you into a bad place. It's best to simply move on and try to release your negative emotions.

Jeremy Actors ...
Jeremy London - AND he's pretty hot, too

There is a saying that no-one is a villain in his own mind. Well, some of us beat ourselves up and try to convince ourselves we are villainous, but the saying more refers to the fact that even people that we think of as bad/evil - people such as Hitler, Dahmer, our ex ... these people had reasons why they did the things they did. Those reasons probably didn't coincide with the desires of others (or the general public) , but it usually made sense to the person who did it.

I don't think I could watch Dahmer. I think it's cool that they made the actor unusually hot and charismatic, because I think in real life Dahmer probably had to have some of those qualities in order to entice people home with him.

I doubt it takes your therapist to point out that your fears of becoming Dahmer were closely tied with your fears of being gay and of being "evil" for being gay.

Oh wow, do *I* have a movie recommendation for you! Love & Human Remains
It explores love (gay and straight), sex, friendship, loneliness, losing faith in yourself, hopelessness - all to a backdrop in which a serial killer is stalking and killing people around them.

Now that I've tempted you ... it was never released on DVD for the U.S. :( Other regions got the DVD, but not us. :( It's long out-of-print on VHS, so maybe that means a release on DVD might appear someday.
