Hi!

As you may have heard, Geocities.com is closing. The MBP disclaimer your journal web site link points to is a Geocities-site, so please change your web site link to: http://www.mustbepop.net.

Also, if you are using an override code on S1 or have a link on your S2 entries, please change those to http://www.mustbepop.net as well. Or you can scrap those and lock all your entries except one that has a disclaimer. LJ Abuse suggests the following:

"In creating this journal, the author has assumed another person's identity for the sole purpose of entertainment, without intending to obtain a benefit or to injure or defraud either the person whose identity the author has assumed, nor any reader of this content."

Thank you for acting quickly!

As you likely know, some new rules were voted into place recently. Please make sure the disclaimers in your bio and public entry are very clear and obvious (cut tags included). The easiest way to make sure no one gets confused is to use LJ's suggested disclaimer:

In creating this journal, the author has assumed another person's identity for the sole purpose of entertainment, without intending to obtain a benefit or to injure or defraud either the person whose identity the author has assumed, nor any reader of this content.

In addition, please make sure all entries in your journal are set to a minimum security level of friends-only. If you want to save time (and who doesn't?), Patrick Sharp found LJSec and Gary Lightbody found another tool that'll help you change the security level of multiple entries at once. If you're a paid user, you can change the security of multiple entries at once by going here and selecting "all entries" (you'll need to go back and change your public disclaimer entry afterward). To save time in the future ( ... )

This is a big change, and one I have a problem with, I might add. How much time do I have to see that it's done?

The deadline is January 31, 2011. If you'd like to take a look at the poll results, they're here.

I can't see the poll results, but I don't think I need to see them to know what they look like. Doesn't change the fact that I think it's a bad rule. I'll comply, eventually. I just dont' have to like it.

Thanks for the warning, I think.

Hello Jérémy!

You applied for membership to must-be-pop. Unfortunately I can't add you in because... well, basically what Marty told you up there. You know it all already. So please just lock up your entries and I would be extra-super-grateful if you would change the disclaimer in the bio part of your user info to that standard sentence (that last part is optional, but seriously, it's not that much of a task, and there's so much more information in that sentence than in what you've got there now).

I understand that it's a pain in the butt to go through your entire journal to lock up your entries, but there are tools that make it easy-breezy. If you need anything, also comment back or PM me or email me (valovh[at]gmail[dot]com).

I'll be happy to add you into the community today, if you get it done and comment back.

Hang on. I think I missed something.

You won't let me join a community so that I can view the results (at Marty's suggestion, no less) of a poll on whether or not I have to friends lock entries until I go back and friends lock six years of entries? Somehow, that doesn't add up.

Even if it did, I'm on the masterlist, I've been around for six years, though I'll admit with the occasional hiccup lately, and Marty tells me that I have until January to comply with the new rule. I feel like I should also have until January to comply with the rule before eligibility for the Must Be Pop lj community should be affected too.

I will change the disclaimers and stuff, I've been meaning to for years and I just couldn't be bothered. It's important now. Thank you for reminding me.

As for the must_be_pop community rules: Disclaimers have always been part of those. The only novelty is that they are now required to get into the game at all, and the requirements are a bit more specific ( ... )
