It's not just people: there's a barrier keeping people at least 6 feet away from the painting. And it's protected by bulletproof glass!

Meanwhile two rooms away, you can literally walk into 18th century dutch painting if you're not careful. It's weird.

Hmmmm there are more impressive things in the museum?
I mean sure it's Mona Lisa but there are some incredibly awesome three thousand year old sculptures in the other aisles. The age alone makes me double-take.

Have the video. It's actually kind of hilarious - most rooms are almost empty, but then you turn right AND WAIT WHAT IS THIS MADNESS.

OMG WAT

You can tell people apparently don't know much art history when they're crowding around a slightly over hyped painting. If I ever get the chance to go to the museum, I'd be looking at a bunch of French Revolution stuff xD

I think a lot of people just want to see it because since they're in the Louvre, they might as well go see the most popular painting. It's something you want to do at least once and it only takes 10 minutes to get there. Plus you see the Victory of Samothrace on the way!

(Meanwhile I'm laughing and enjoying the Egyptian exhibit \o/)
