Oh, that's wonderful! Poor Des, though, being reminded of how Widmore treated him even on the island, and not knowing yet that Pen still cares. I especially love these final lines: He drank to drown out the image of Pen and the sound of their last angry words. He drank until all that remained was the empty taste of the Highlands.

This is incredible! You paint such a vivid picture of Desmond---the bitterness, the anger at Widmore, his regret over his last moment with Penny. And then that last line is so beautiful and achy. Amazing work.

Oh my - you are way too kind, but thank you very much! I love the way Des refuses to drink with Charlie and Hurley, then notices the bottle and dives right in. No wonder, considering the memories it awakened.
