As someone who grew up in a situation similar to Clementine's, I want you to know how much this story meant to me. I was always the one looking at the back of auditorium, wondering if he came. It's nice to know Sawyer at least had the guts to do this and take pleasure in her growing up. It's taken me a long time to understand this, but I also get why Sawyer did not come forward.

Oh, darlin' - I'm so sorry to have dredged up memories, but thank you for letting me know that you liked the ficlet. What you've said is exactly what I was aiming for, that Sawyer watched from a distance as his little girl grew up to be all that he never was. He made sure she was all right, and he was very proud of her. *hugs you tight*
