Title: The Stolen Child
Rating: PG-13
Group/Pairing: NEWS; no pairing
Warnings: Lightly dark, possibly confusing, and maybe a bit crazy
Notes: This is written in the POV of someone who doesn't have all the pieces of the story (and possibly of their own mind), so if you haven't read the original and this confuses you, I've probably done my job right ( Read more... )

rating: pg-13, cycle: six, group: news, author: grydo2life, original author: sanjihan

Soooo... This is one of the fics I wanted to see remixed but never thought anyone would. For that I have to thank you. I also have to say that I love that you captured the same feeling of the original even while flipping it totally around. I adore Yeats' "The Stolen Child" and that nice addition to set the tone was wonderful. You really played well on the mother's emotion, drew it out, lined her descent into that strange sort of madness, and I was just really very pleased with this whole thing. Especially the last two paragraphs which are entirely unsettling and absolutely perfect.

Thank you.

I told you this already, but your comment here actually made me cry a little. Getting a serious comment like this is rare, but it affected me way more than a comment full of keysmashes and flailing ever could have.

I'm so glad you liked this. I agonized over it, and even though it turned out better than I expected it to, I was so worried, because I knew you were fond of your original fic, and I didn't want to ruin it in some way.

Thank you♥

You portrayed the mother's grief so well it was painful to read sometimes. I wish she could get her son back... This is an awesome companion to the original.

This fic was so strange for me to write, because it's so unlike my usual fare, but I think it was a great experience for me, and I really like the way it turned out.

Thanks, dear!

Oh my goodness, this is lovely! And writing this in his mother's broken point of view just drives the story home. You did a great job at making this very unsettling.
