Looking for a mod!

Sep 10, 2010 11:20

Currently looking for a mod to run jent_fanfics. Looking for someone who is invovled in the Johnny's fandom, has a long time journal or at least is active on livejournal. Not looking for a sock puppet account. Please comment with any information you want to share and how you will be able to handle such a massive community with all it's tags and ( Read more... )

I'd like to be able to clean the tagging system up. There are a lot of pairings that can't be tagged at the moment and I think it'd be better to switch over to character tags rather then pairing tags. Since you have the ability to search for multiple tags at once, is seems like it'd be easier. It'd also be easier to tag rare pairs and gen-fic.

I'd also like just to be able to keep custom fonts and batters out or behind cuts. It messes up with a lot of flists and with some, it can even break layouts and what not.

I think small regulations like the above and similar will be able to keep things smooth and neaten it up a bit. There would have to be some work involved with switching the tag system, but I've had several offers of help as well. A team working on it could make things work just fine.

The thing is I wouldn't want to add TOO many people, but if you feel you are able to handle some of the mod work, I would like to add you as a mod, who else do you have in mind?

Mmm, not the best time to take a nap. But understood. As for the team, they've already made themselves available below. ♥

As a suggestion, while I think the split of characters is good, maybe leave the pairing tag for "popular" (100+ entries) couples because, AFAIK, LJ only allows a search on two tags, and I've found the open second tag is useful if you want to search by pairing+rating or other variations.

I don't know if there is a need for it really but I can be the graphic mod, I mean fixing the layout of the community, making a header contest or just change it every month or two weeks, pretty much taking care of the community's look.

Anyway if it needed then I'm willing for it :)

Also, I would love to have someone who is interested in keeping the look of it active and changing. I would love to add you to keep the layout and graphics fresh here.

Would you be interested in overhauling the tag system?

I volunteered to help with the tagging/organizational overload people are thinking about doing, and have some other people willing to help out as well. If we get it fixed up to where it's more streamlined and efficient, I think the community would end up benefiting more people than it currently is.

Just a thought. It's too huge to keep trying to make individual tags, I think, since it encompasses such a large number of groups/people/fandoms.

They would need much help with the tagging system. I could add you if you are up for it.

Sure thing, basil_ovelby and I have already started talking about possible system overhauls, along with astrangerenters.

astangerenters isn't a member of jent_fanfics so I wasn't able to add her to mod status.

I'd be willing to help the folks above with tagging overhaul. And since the community is so large, maybe a few write-ups/suggestions on how to best make use of tagging could be a link on a sidebar and in the comm profile page. Like a page for 'how do I find fics with...' and another page for 'how can I best tag what my fic's about...'

Common sense, sure, but I think it would build a stronger sense of community. There could be featured posts like 'did you know we have this tag and you can use it to find this?' I don't know.

As far as layout goes, I'd say a focus on intuitive design and easy access to tags should override any desire to make things 'pretty'. This is pretty much a fanfic storage site - function over appearance, I say.

I like what you had to say, this is defiantly a storage site and like your perspective. I would like to add you for the hauling of the tag system. Maybe the lot of you can work out a system.
