2012 is a Year of Change

After a bit of a journaling hiatus, I figured that I would jump back in and return to writing about my life.

2012 is already shaping up to be a memorable year, in ways that are both exciting and challenging. Though it is unclear where I will be by December, it'll be fairly different than where I was this January, which is not true of many, or most, ( Read more... )

Good to be reading about your adventures again! Hope the camping continues to be enjoyable - it's great to have an activity like that which was, in a way, "tested" between you and Andy prior to the romantic aspect of your relationship entering in. I always find that adds something to the experience.

And I've been recently thinking about another round of reducing clutter myself - as you know I don't have a lot of spec in which to get cluttered, but it sure can still happen. I am trying to adopt the mindset that there is actually a value to space, and if I am spending that value to keep something in that space, I ought to ask what I am getting out of the thing which is there. And if I haven't thought about it for five years or more, it becomes more difficult in that light to argue that I absolutely must keep it.

Thanks! Camping has continued to be enjoyable, and it's particularly fun because I'm getting to explore something new; I hadn't gone camping since high school. It has been a learning experience, especially since I haven't always been 100% prepared (the last time, we camped at a high altitude and encountered snow).

Good luck getting rid of the clutter. I think I've come to value space since I've been on my own, because living in a smaller space has made me realize the disadvantages to hanging on to stuff of limited value, as well as the benefits to having control over my surroundings. Plus, I've been helping with some packing/reorganizing over the past couple of weeks, and that has kind of motivated me to keep the clutter in check before it gets out of hand.
