I have no idea! *trots off to measure stitches* About 10 looks like. That doesn't seem very good, does it? Oh well! I am making sure that my stitching is small and even on the front though.
I'm using a running stitch with a long gold eye quilting needle. I hadn't heard of a rocking stitch (had to Google it!) - can you tell I'm self taught? :> That is a cool stitch though, I can see where is would come in handy with a thick batting or a quilt that was going to get a lot of wear-n-tear.
I’m feeling a bit bored with CW at the moment (a terrible thing to say I know) -Hehehe...I have a confession to make: I've never actually been to Colonial Williamsburg! *blushes* Now that's horrible! Now that I live in DC, I keep swearing that I'm going to make it down there...around classes and work...Ha! :-P
Don't be too hard on yourself. DC sounds like it should be close but it's really quite a drive to Williamsburg from where you are. Oh the joys of living in the beltway and I-95 corridor!
My goodness! Your petticoat is stunning! So is the pocket of course. ;) Really though, how are you getting all that stitching so perfect? It really looks good.
Thanks! *blushes* Ummm... practice I guess. The more I do the more even the stitching gets. That why I started with the back panel. :> Using the right needle makes a big difference too. I'd never used a proper quilting needle before and it has been quite helpful. I should rummage around and see if I kept the package to show you guys...
That petticoat is simply beautiful! I was always kind of bored with the constant diamond patterns, but with the double row of stitches it is so lovely. Excellent job!
Thanks! Yeah I wasn’t sure what to do with the top until I got the Kyoto Fashion book for Christmas. There is a quilt in there with this pattern. I love it, it's so simple but interesting and you can do it on a fairly large scale (less time, easier to work). It's even more fun in person, allowing the silk to glint and shine more than a plain diamond pattern would. *smile*
