José Rizal is more a writer than a doctor, and writers do have the habit of writing more than necessary. When writers write about something, they write it with many details and almost every feeling is portayed in words. That, in my opinion, is why José Rizal is "cheesy". Learn to appreciate the art of literature, it is rewarding and enlightening. Or in some cases, extremely boring...
