When you say washing - if I cut myself, and get blood on clothing, I don't have to wash it right away - just throw it in a container of cold water and let the blood float off. Does that not work here? (Asking in case the issue comes up - because that's what I would have done to let a visitor/lover get back to sleep ASAP.)
