Ploot! I am tired. I have french class in a few hours. If I didn't miss class already when I was in England, I'd go home and sleep. I don't understand how people dish out $$ for the class and then never go. What sense does that make ( Read more... )

BTW, if you want a really great censorship battle why not look at the CAC and the Maplethorp thing. the UC archives are unorganized but totally pack with stuff, depositions, tape recordings, etc. its been way over done here, but out there it would be new and fresh. plus Barry was actually taken to court and sued for the show (dir. of the CAC before i worked there)

I know a little bit about the Mapplethorpe controversy and Barry's lawsuit. I just taped a program on Trio called Art and Outrage, it had a bit on there about it. I'd love to research it more. I am oddly fascinated how controversy mythologizes the art/artists at hand. Some of the work that I love the most is also the most controversial.
