Stupid Rock, stupid car design...

So I wrote a few days ago about my car being in the shop because we ran over a big rock in the road right?

I've now gotten the full story on the damage to my car - which while it looks PERFECT from above, was not inconsiderable...partly due to insane design from Audi! So all the cross members under my car are bent...the gravel pan is shredded and

This is why I've decided I can't ever own an Audi or VW again. The crazy repairs are just too much. Too bad they're so pretty and fun.

I know, I really love my Audi - apparently this is a shocking thing even for Audi to do (the combined transmission) - it's only ever been on one or two models - I just got lucky ;-)

My next car may be a drive off the lot bmw convertible - no maintenance - even tires - during the warranty period! B is NOT thrilled at that idea ;-)

Ugh - I SO feel your pain. If it makes you feel any better, Acura was trying to make DH get new tires at 20k miles!! HELLO?? High performance tires, my ass.

Sorry about the car woes and the transmission. Yes, I would try to negotiate on paying the depreciation - it can't hurt.

So frustrating - I can't believe you have to deal with all this as a result of running over a rock?!?!?!? UGH!

Seriously - I mean it was bigger than a football and did NOT belong in a busy road...but still - amazing! New tires at 20k - nuts!! I'm at 44k on a 40k (high performance) tire - so I'm okay with buying new ones - but had grumbled about it - I'm right on the edge and need to do them ASAP (too little tread for rain I think) - only crappy thing is the tire price -but at least I know they really do last!

I'm glad AAA is planning to replace the transmission - I really didn't want to be stuck down the road if there were problems - but I think I'm going to have to push on the depreciation - I'm not terribly amused - I had MUCH better things do to with that $$ (dont we always!).

How is your knee doing???? You haven't said much - I'm hoping because it's not bothering you - but suspect it's due to frustration!

I don't have a car so I have no idea what angles to work here. I hope you negotiate a bit. This seems ridiculous!

E's been looking at Audis so maybe I should mention this...?

It's not most Audi's - and I really really love my car and it's not been a problem and Audi has been awesome about taking care of any little thing under warranty - but you may want to ask if this is one of the models with a fully integrated transmission (ie no seperate pan/housing!) before you buy. I'd buy another one -but would ask that question!

I've never had to negotiate on this stuff before...not even sure if there is room - dealership seems to think I should just be glad they are willing to cover so much! I want out of my oh so lovely rental though so I may be inclined to be pushed further than is fair. Yikes!
