Cat Whisperer aka Pee-psychiatrist

This was interesting - this article was posted on the front page of Yahoo (at least MY frontpage)...and it's a story of a woman who used my very own Pee-psychiatrist to help her with her pet behavior problems (different than dear sweet couch peeing Annabelle's problems of course, but none the less undesirable!)...sounds like she had a good ( Read more... )

Really interesting. Wow - your pee-psychiatrist seems to have a lot of credibility... and it's funny the methods used - rewarding positive behavior, distracting from bad behavior, it's so funny because those are the same techniques used for KIDS! :)-

It is AMAZING how much cats are like small children! Annabelle is about 4 months younger than Finn (my nephew) and honestly their developmental milestones were SO similiar - and the training techniques (and motivations) are very similiar. I know kids will grow up more - but cats/kittens and toddlers/babies have an awful lot in common! It just had never been quite so clear to me as having two kittens while spending a lot of time with my nephews.

It's funny - I hadn't heard too much about this woman before I hired her (an act of desperation!) - but have heard a ton since - all good. She really does make sense. I suppose her ideas won't work for everyone (nothing does) - but they are pretty logical!

we've added litter boxes and while Dakota has improved, she's still stealthily peeing. We used to know where, exactly, she was going. Now she's using the new box AND peeing but we can only find it by smell (versus stepping in a puddle).

We have Da Bird and Miles adores that thing - carries it around with him and brings it to bed.

Well that is f-ing annoying!

Does she pee tiny amounts (like marking pee?)

That's (ie smelling) is how we find most of the pee - so so so not my favorite thing to do!

You are better than I am - I hide Da Bird from the kitties - they are DESPERATE to get it - but they chew it up (even just playing - they can completely destroy the feathers in a 2 days WITH supervision!)

It only has little feather stubs, but Miles still loves that thing. He lies down with it and just rubs his face all over the little nubby ends. Obsessed.
