Digital SLR???

I think several of you have digital SLR's that you love - or at least that take fantastic pictures given how MUCH better your shots are than mine! (love my waterproof olympus for snorkling - but my iPhone takes better pics!)...B's been wanting a SLR for a while - and with his birthday and our trip to Italy coming up fast - we're thinking it might ( Read more... )

I'm a Canon girl. I've used a Rebel for 7 years. I just got a D60 and I love it. (well there is a lens connection error and I have to send it in to service - grr) We have a T2i at work and it's a good camera too. I'd say go with the T2i. The D60 takes video but it's rediculously short)

Thanks sand! B keeps looking at wanting it to take video too - I have a sneaking suspicion we are going to get a LOT more camera than we really need.

He is a big scuba diver and wants something he can get a huge housing/lights for and yesterday he found a video of manta rays that someone took with their canon - he's exploring more ;-)

I've had my Nikon D70 since 2004 or 2005 and it still takes fabulous pictures (when I actually lug it around). It gets a bit heavy, but my understanding is that the new Nikons are a bit smaller and more compact.

Too big and heavy is my big worry - I'm impressed though at the photos you take - you've got something going where you take way better pics with your iphone than I do! (actually my new iphone takes much better pics than my original 3G did).

We have a cannon Rebel XTi or something like that. I love the fast shutter speed for capturing quick shots. I also just recently started to experiment with taking more maula photos and adjusting apature and stuff and it;s very easy to use.

We had a Nikon before this one and it was awesome too. Nikon or cannon you can't really go wrong.

That's what we are thinking...B is going to be the driver on this one - but I want to make sure we get something that is adjustable but can work out of the box! Good to know on the Rebel!

Hope this week is starting to go better - your story made me cringe for you guys!
