Do you realize that your swiss army knife would be confiscated if you were to board a airplane ? So for goodness sake, leave it at home if you decide to fly anywhere or be prepared to lose it. Just saying.
Oh yes, I know. I keep it on my keychain because it ends up being so handy sometimes.
Funny story: I majored in metalsmithing and jewelrymaking in college. Got in the habit of always carrying a couple of jewelers pliers in my bag. (Weird, maybe, but they came in very handy quite a few times!) My job sent me to Chicago, I flew. And yes, they TOTALLY TOOK those pliers away. They offered to mail them to my home for a fee, but the fee was about the same amount it cost me to replace them. So, yes, quite a few years ago I learned the hard way, haha!
I find it sad that such has come about. I remember when I could arrive 15 minutes before my flight would leave. I (of course I already had my ticket on me) would be able to simply board said flight. No security checks of any kind. And I could also have two carry on pieces of luggage on me. Usually a garment bag and a bag I could place in the overhead compartment. As well as my camera bag which I would put under my seat. No hassles or problems. Sigh, those days are long gone ...
I flew when I was little, but don't remember it much. I don't fly much, but the times i have flown that I remember were only after 9-11. Still know what you mean, though. It is sad. And disturbing.
