30 Days of Fanfic Writing Meme (day 1)
Saw a bunch of people doing this: 30 days of fanfic writing meme.
1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
My first actual attempt at fanfic writing was in May 2005. Yes I remember the month. I remember it because my husband had moved to PA and I was stuck in Chicago at my dad's house with 3 kids (2 1/2, 3 1/2 and almost 5) while trying to pack us all up for the 500 mile move in June. I had never heard of fanfic before but was online (which was really hard back then because I only had dial-up) and found some fanfic archives and something clicked in my head. All the stories I had been making up in my head about the characters of my favorite shows were just fanfic waiting to be written.
My first fandom was That 70s Show. I just loved at show (up until the dreaded 8th season which I watched and found things to like but it just wasn't the same show after Eric and Kelso left... and they broke up Jackie and Hyde). My actual original stories in my head were total Mary Sues which, I knew, no one but me would want to read. I was, after all, a 28yo mother of 3 not a 15yo schoolgirl. I knew better. But I figured I could rework the stories using the actual characters. I wrote 2 rather long stories in a matter of 2 weeks. Looking back they aren't the greatest and could really use some spit and polish.
Looking back, though, I realize I attempted some other fanfic when I was in college. Although it was very AU. Mostly Star Trek: The Next Generation. I had no idea back then that what I was jotting down out of boredom was fanfic. I've been imagining these stories since I was a kid. I remember having this very elaborate story in my head that continued the movie The Cutting Edge. I never even considered writing it down, though (it was soap opera worthy to say the least).

10 - Pairings - Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

12 - Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

14 - Ratings - how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?
15 - Warnings - What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?
16 - Summaries - Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?
17 - Titles - Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?
18 - Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
19 - When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
20 -Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
