A phone company is a utility company, and they are regulated by the government. Your state should have a board of public utilities. They can help you fight the phone company, and sometimes, if you just mention your intent to call said commission to the utility company, they'll back off. Especially when the matter is simply about money they think you owe, as opposed to trying to make them repair something.

Actually got an email about this month's bill and it's now over $800. Apparently nothing got changed last month.

I have a feeling they are just going to keep charging us $100 a month until we pay it off whether we are still a customer or not.
