I'm a planner, I always have been.  Mike is coming up on orders very shortly, and so for most of the 8 months prior to our wedding he will be living somewhere else.  He won't be coming back to where I am until probably 2 or 3 days before the wedding because he wants to have the majority of his leave after the wedding.  My question is, is there ( Read more... )

If I can find the websites that I used to have, I'll send them your way. Though one thing when I first moved to Hawaii to be with Erin after we got married.. in the base newspaper, I saw an Army Wives 101 class.. definitely I recommend that you take that once you get there and all. You can definitely learn a lot :)

Have you gone to CinCHouse http://www.cinchouse.com/home.asp Its from the book "Married to the Military" I recommend on getting that book :)

What do you know about the moving appt? Can he schedule it before we actually get married? This is going to be the longest 8 mos of my life. lol.

I'm not totally sure, but I can ask Erin about it in the morning. I know we made the appointment before the wedding, and than the movers came about a week later.

Hey! You responded to a post I made in militarylove, and so I thought I'd check your journal out. I wanted to let you know that I was in the exact same situation. My fiance (at the time) and I were living in Ohio, and he got orders to be stationed in England. He left Ohio in March, and I went back to Seattle (where we're both from) to plan the wedding. He came back from England in July (2 days before the wedding) to get married, and then I joined him in England ( ... )

No we don't live together now. Like we aren't even buying furniture or anything until after the wedding, probably near where he is stationed. Personally I'm not taking a whole lot with me. Just my clothes and my personal stuff. I am going to have him take some stuff with him when he goes. But since he'll still be living in the barracks I dunno how much room he'll even have left over. I'm worried more about wedding gifts and stuff like that. I've just heard that it can take up to three weeks to get a movers appointment and then another three weeks to get your stuff. He'll leave on orders in like March or April. And since we aren't getting married until August, I didn't know if he can schedule the movers before the wedding or if I need to have paperwork and all that jazz before it can be scheduled. This marrying into the military stuff it just so ridiculous. lol.

Wow. Didn't mean for this to become a novel. Thanks for checking out my journal!

Thank you for all your advice. :-) I have to do some updating to my journal obviously. B/c most of this pot doesn't apply anymore since my fiance will be heading to Korea 3 weeks after our wedding. But a lot of it is good to keep in mind for when we prepare for our next duty station.

Hey, you made a post in mil_wives, so I decided to check your journal out. :) I don't know if you've come across this list already, but wanted to pass along this PDF in case it's helpful: Checklist for New Military Spouses. Good luck!
