HELP!

Jun 08, 2008 08:54

Rethinking the education goal, and brainstorming career options, so what should I be when I grow up, kids?
I want a secure profession, that I'm not embarrassed to do, within the range of "$40,000/year+benefits," to "oh wow, where do I put THIS pile o' money?"
Any suggestions?

Give her a couple of jewels here and there. Her disapproval will melt away with ice.

Write down a list of things that you think you could do for a long long time.

Hobbies, etc.

Then, try to find a job in that.

I've had a lot of jobs (30+) and the one thing that I noticed with the jobs that I liked are that they don't always pay the most. However, your quality of life is higher because a 3rd of your life isn't spent doing something you dislike. Working a job you hate, even if it's mellow and easy, you get drained and the rest of your life suffers.

Oh, and make sure it's something where you don't have to drive far for, gas is only going to go UP - they're expecting 20$ dollars a gallon by 2015 - and no matter how much you make, if you waste it all on getting to work, who cares?

Good luck! I'm selfish and say you should get a career that will help me further mine...but, I tell everyone that.

chad is right...but also, note that it is ok to change career paths along the way. just find your passion and follow it, but if money is your goal, that doesnt always fall in line with making it rich. but if it does, then you're a lucky one. anyway, good luck. it's a pretty hard decision to make. i still dont know what i want to be. hope you find your passion.

Thanks a bunch for the advice, I appreciate it.
I'll also be scheduling some time at the Career Center for recommendations.
