A retelling of the Adventures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle´s famous consulting Detective Sherlock Holmes and his best friend doctor John Watson - in modern day England.
I fell in love with Sherlock Holmes when I was 13 yeas old and came across the books in our school library - that was an awesome summer! Since then I have reread the stories over and over again, even got the Audio books.
But the one thing I never really liked where the movies - maybe I was to young...
So when a friend of mine told me about the new BBC version I was a little sceptic at first. Modern day Sherlock? How would that work? In the original stories Sherlock is one of the first to use a fingerprint to identify a person - today that´s standard procedure...
But then I started watching it and I instantly fell in love. The episodes are funny and smart and just as complex as they are supposed to be. I especially love all those little pointers to other Sherlock cases - things that SherlockFangirl!me squeeing while nobody else really get them for what they are.
And as much as I love Sherlock, I´m definitly a Watson-girl. I´ve always had a thing for loyal best friends (Sam in LotR or Benvolio in Romeo&Juliet to name the most obvious two) and if it´s coupled with dry, witty humor and a general "WTF world?!?" attitude it´s just the best thing ever...
The only bad thing about Sherlock is - obviously - the fact that there are always just 3 episodes in a "season"...so not enough...
So, I´m gonna be waiting for the next batch of episodes while having Sherlock marathons with my friends at random intervalls.
