Wow! I don't think that I've ever seen the temperature-dependant shifting before and, I gotta say, I love it. It's a really different take on things. I love the detail about the boys going down to the desert as well -- I'm not gonna lie, I was wondering the same thing about moving, well, anywhere outside the PNW.
You build up the characters nicely, especially when there's so many to handle, and it all builds up very nicely to the climax. I like the slight ambiguity of the ending as well, not quite sure how it's going to end.
I came over here from the werewolfbigbang and thoroughly enjoyed this. :) A solidly entertaining read.
This was a really interesting story, and I liked seeing all of them as wolves! And of course it's always good to watch Steve and Christian fall in love. ;-)
I really enjoyed this! I also liked your take on shifting (temperature controlled, that's new to me). I'm glad the boys got to be together in the end. That's awesome that they can translate what the others are saying in their wolf forms. Makes me happy to think that if Chris does eventually stop being able to shift human, they can still communicate.
The thing about the communicating is probably the only major change I made to the wolves from the original set-up - and for exactly the reason you mention. Just couldn´t stand the thought of them not being able to still talk.
Great job on this! There were a few things that aren't common in fanfiction, the temperature thing, that they get together and are happy before things get angsty (usually they're angsty in the beginning, haha). I liked the conversation elements of the fic and fel that they were very natural and very masculine (I always have problems writing conversations).
What can I say? I´m a supporter of the Joss Whedon method: Give them a slice of happiness, then hit them over the head when they least expect it. ;P
Maybe we should work together sometime. My stories usually start of as conversations and then I have to struggle through putting the rest around it. But thank you so much for saying the conversations came across natural and masculine *blushes* I guess all that DMAX watching finally paid off...
I think I've only written one story where they started off happy, LOL. Maybe we should write together, because I always start with a visual image. What is DMAX? It's probably something obvious that I'm just not getting...
DMAX is a german TV channel for man, with shows about cars and those guys who are crab-fishing or driving trucks across the ice in Alaska - if you´re not german you have probably never heard of it...

If you like this take on the werewolves you should definitly check out the books by Maggie Stiefvater that inspired this story.
Oh, and there might be one or two timestamps for this in the future...
