Yes, I took it out of the awful table it was in. The bars didn't really indicate a percentage, and I understand the code was screwing up friends' pages all over the place ( Read more... )

Makes sense that they all talk the same, considering the northeast was one of the first areas settled by the English!

The results were dead on for me, says she who hails from central Jersey and lived just outside of Philadelphia for 4 years.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.
The Midland

The Northeast

The South

The Inland North

Boston

The West

North Central

It said I have that one too. I honestly think it is not a good enough test. We have a distinctly HOUSTON accent. Listen to Jeff and Beau Bridges or Renee Zelweiger and you will know what I mean. I can tell if someone is from Houston from their accent a lot of the time.

I never considered the possibility of a distinctly Houston accent. Although Houston and some place up north are the only ones to call the frontage roads "feeders" so perhaps we do have our own dialect and even accent.

There are 5 million people here. I have taken other tests that were more involved that said I specifically had a Houston accent. The feeder thing was a specific example.
