I had a long argument about dating with my friends L. and S. one time. (You probably know L., she was a Godfrey's regular at one time; I don't know if she has a LiveJournal or not. S.'s been there a few times as well.)
Anyway, the question is what constitutes a date. Do you mean you really want to go on a real date, or do you mean you want someone to treat you like it's a real date despite knowing that it's not really a real date - in other words, knowing from the start you'd drop dead before you'd actually date that person, but you want a charade that has the trappings of a date to console you for the fact that the type of guys you like to "date" would sooner go out wearing a purple tutu than take you on a real date

oh geez bruce, & i got to read this naked. hah. i want a gentleman that i am not fucking or sucking to take me out (or i'll take him out, whatever) for a nice dinner. i want to date someone that isn't ashamed of me, someone who respects me & all. i'm going to cut this short cos i'm at my friends house with no pants on & hungry.
Hell, that's okay, I get to do half my posting drunk. Well, not so much anymore, but the prescription drugs I'm on take care of that anyway. :-)

Well, see, there's the problem I was getting at. If you obviously make men choose between dating you and fucking you, it stands to reason that any healthy American male who thinks he might have a sexual interest in you is quite sensibly going to avoid taking you out on a date. Why not instead just go out on a date and be determined not to care whether you're fucking the guy or not? That way he can safely date you and you can both reserve the right to fuck later if the mood strikes you, or not if it doesn't.
Or maybe that's all you meant - that you want a guy to take you on a date for some reason other than just because he feels obligated because you're fucking and you've complained about not going on dates?
