Aw, Spencer! I'm glad we didn't try to visit the lake house due to the heat and the length of drive, especially since darkforge and I were ill most of the weekend, but I kind of wanted to see how Spencer and Jack are doing. And other people, sure, but adults don't change so quickly. :)
The move back sounds like a good time to wean--real or fake breaks in routine are helpful for that sort of thing. My taper went the other way--bedtime and first thing in the morning, then bedtime only, and then no more nursing (a little sooner than I wanted, after I was prescribed something). The bedtime-only change was hooked onto our L.A. trip, I think.
Good luck with the imminent projects of the old-new house! I hope the contractor can cite a move-in date soon.
Aww, it's great to get a Spencer and Jack update. I wonder how common it is for younger sibs of very talkative first children to talk later, since it was very much the same pattern with Robbie. It may just be personality, too - Robbie talks constantly at home and in small group settings, but went and hid on the couch during Mac's bday party despite having been Incredibly Excited about it.
Also feel your pain on the granola bar issue - at the county fair on Saturday Robbie started making odd noises and we discovered that he had grabbed my tamale wrapper - the corn husk - and stuffed the whole thing in his mouth at the end of dinner. The notable thing is that he had been on 2 rides, including a baby roller coaster, post-dinner, so it took him a long time to finally decide he was in trouble and this thing was not edible!
