Keeping up

Today has been exhausting, and it's not yet 5pm.

First we went to Jack's new gym class. We had observed a few minutes last week, but then it was relatively quiet. This morning I shoved him out into a large group of wriggling toddlers that he didn't know, and...he freaked out. Went into baby-koala cling mode, wanted to go home. I think upper-2-year-olds are often experimenting with the idea of being scared and of strange/familiar? Robbie is going around right now declaring half the world to be '"cary" while at the same time totally unfazed by things that really freak out Mac. And I seem to remember Mac having a similar stage of deciding to be afraid of certain things (though not people, not with his personality.)

In any case it sounds like you are doing the right thing and the lion costume was an awesome idea.

It makes me sad to think of an uncuddly Jack, though; I miss his willingness to curl up next to me!

Robbie has gotten into conditional sentences, though he's still having a little trouble verbalizing cause and effect: "I pooped in the potty because I got an Angry Bird candy!"

Many sympathies on the exhaustion. Kids are so...intense.
