Baby & kid

I'm gobsmacked. I've never _heard_ of a kid who had that kind of navigational sense that early. Wow!

I mean, I'm sure I knew some of that stuff by that age, because I spent so much time in the car with mom when she ran errands, but....

I remember being shocked by Mac doing something similar at that age - he identified the hotel where his grandpa had stayed after being there once, and knew it on every subsequent trip, for instance. I wonder if it has something to do with the kinds of memory absorption going on at that age - that for older kids and adults that sort of knowledge just drops out amidst all the other input, but for a little kid it gets locked into longterm memory?

We did classes with Mac at Gold Star; they are pretty good though with the longer classes they do give kids choice during breaks of either watching a video or doing an arts project. Mac loved the classes, though. :)

My one complaint with sleep training (probably true for both Ferber and related methods) is that you have to redo it periodically; I really wish there was a permanent method that outlasted disruptions or changes in environment.

Jack sounds like he has a better navigational sense than I do.

My mental maps are more like London tube maps. I navigate by landmark, not by geography. Which is why I am so impressed.
