WIP first bits...

Stolen off of hacky_mcslashy:

Post the first sentence (or three) from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, you'll get talking about writing, and the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic!

"Don't get attached."

That was pretty much the beginning and end of Sophie's advice, though she'd just been Miranda Zero, then. She'd told him that for times like this.

731- Dr. Jacobson, who he'd never met- was dying.

Had to go look up this AU and now I want to read the comic books! Has the TV adaptation gotten anywhere? I am intrigued.

Who is the he here? Who might he be attached to?

Unfortunately, the pilot (which was easier to find before Megaupload went down, but there are probably a ton of torrents available online) was the only episode ever shot. John Rogers, who also does Leverage, was the one running it, I think, and the comics it was based on were written by Warren Ellis, who's just an amazing writer. I follow Roger's blog, where he's mentioned more than once that Eliot might be involved with the GF. And I'm convinced that something I saw on one of Hardison's screens once confirms the fact that he's in on it too.

As for who he's attached to? *smiles like River Song* Spoilers!

I'm planning on writing it in a way so that people who don't know the comics or the pilot will be able to follow it, so not to worry if you can't get your hands on the canon before I start posting. :)

I love when writers do stuff like that. They sort of combine all their canons! I'm going to have to nose around, I think, because that sounds right up my alley. I've always wondered what Eliot's backstory is. I'm working on a Leverage Big Bang right now and that's one of the things that's been rumbling around in my brain. Do you think all his random friends are involved, too?

*gets a frustrated face just like the Doctor* Spoilers be damned! ... Okay, I'll wait patiently.

"But partners doesn't work, Meredith. Cops have partners. Irritated high school biology students have partners."

McKay winces. "You know what? How about we just focus on the programming, here."

"They're boyfriends."

"Please, Jeannie, just. Stop. Talking."

*falls over laughing* The only question I can think of is "How cool is Jeannie?"

When Rodney uses the term partner, what actually springs to mind? How does he see their relationship? And, then, of course - how much has he noticed that the two of them think he hasn't noticed? *laughs some more*

I love Jeannie. I'm rewatching her episodes this weekend to get me back in the game, and looking forward to it madly. :)

Before I forget, have you seen this? It's David and Kate Hewlett being AWESOME.

YES! I can't wait for more episodes! It made me laugh and laugh and laugh! Those two are SO FUNNY together. Have you seen A Dog's Breakfast? Oh, that is full of SGA love because they bring in some of the actors. And it is David getting to be so quintessential David!

Now that I've experienced more of the David and Kate love, I'm so glad that they brought her on as Jeannie. I think she rounded out McKay so well.

Dear Mom,

It's been a few years since I wrote you, and I know it's not like you're sitting around waiting to hear from me, but I found a pen and some paper and some time, so here it all is.

I grew up.

Does that last line make the mother cry, I wonder? Does she realize she's missed something special? Does it break her heart to know that she'll never get the time back?

Is the person writing distressed by the thought that the mother may not care?

I still haven't decided whether the mother will even see it! (Which is kind of why it's languishing right now). Dystopian fic is dystopian! :)

It certainly is that! Why is he (I'm going to assume HE from the fandom) writing his mother? What catharsis is he seeking?
