Ah, progress!

Last night, I completed the necklace I have been working on. I can now turn my attention toward making necklaces to wear for the events surrounding my sister-in-law's upcoming wedding. When I am done with those, I have already been inspired to piece out four more projects for my Etsy site. I also plan to photograph a few items today to add to my ( Read more... )

Ooh, there's more True Blood soon! Woot!

It's funny because I never loved the show, but I just couldn't turn it off. The supporting characters were too awesome. If they could make an entire season without Bill and Sookie, I'd never stop watching.

I also look forward to more True Blood! And I know what you mean - we would sit there glued to the screen, saying "This is a guilty pleasure" and then be unable to resist the next episode.

The book was very different - all from Sookie's POV, no Tara, much less of most of the secondary characters, though Jason was still prominent. Several things went down much differently - some to make the show more interesting, some to make the show seem less...racist than the book? Don't know if I plan to read further in the series, but I am happily awaiting the new season! When does it begin?

Starts midway though June if I'm not mistaken!

Interesting that the book needs to be cleaned up a bit for TV. Or maybe, in an effort to be edgy, they're doing the more PC thing and involving more characters of non-white, heteronormative backgrounds. Then again, that's like two characters overall, but they're still pretty entertaining. (Oh, Tara.)

Lafayette is in the book, he's just a teeny tiny background character. They have chosen the more tendion-causing route for a few things that happen, and there are some things that happen in the book that just don't happen on the show (because they are seriously cheeseball). Fascinating to compare, but I much prefer having Tara in the show.

As with the BBCs Merlin, True Blood was one of those shows that everyone was all OMG YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS and then I couldn't get past the first ep.

I was informed that in the case of True Blood, it was because I'm a prude. This made me laugh, a lot.

There were some unsettling scenes in the first episode. We have a three strikes rule with shows, so we got absolutely hooked. :)

It's hard for me to go on when I'm not hooked - given that I'm still behind on Dollhouse and missing an ep on Flashpoint and burning Desperate Housewives as we speak to watch late at night - that it's hard for me.

I think, with that first ep, I just felt they were trying too hard to be edgy.
