where is everyone?

Seriously? Where is everyone these days? Are folks migrating to other journals or more tempted by the quicker communications of Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc? While I do understand their appeal (and fiddle and faddle here and there with them), I wonder if folks are leaving the world of journaling behind much like what happened with all of the ( Read more... )

I don't post here a lot because no one reads it. I spend time on FB, but don't really journal there, persay. But on FB, people respond, and I feel like someone is actually listening lol

I know for myself, my "presence" on the internet decreased when my job got so busy (sometimes I work up to 80 hours or so in a week). It's why I don't have any sites anymore. The last site I had (hgnetwork.co.uk) is now in the hands of someone else. So now when I do have any time at all I usually just surf LJ.

I actually did finally cave to pressure from RL friends and get a Facebook, although I don't really care for it and rarely check it. I just don't get the Facebook thing. Plus - everyone in my RL want to be my "friend" - and honestly I can't be myself in RL anyways. If anyone really knew how much I enjoy fandoms they'd freak out! :-)

Well, do know that although I don't always comment, I do read your blogs. I'll try to comment more. Blogging on the other hand, I work so much I often have nothing to blog about except for work - which frankly is mostly complaining and I figured most would rather not hear it.

I do think, to some extent, a lot of the communication happens on Facebook/Twitter now. I have both, but I'm not on either very much (though I'm trying to remedy that). I still check LiveJournal everyday, but the number of people who actually post on my friends' list on a regular basis is really small. I usually only see a couple people post a day, and a few of them are people that I had friended who never, ever comment on anything I post, so I've stopped commenting on theirs. Or, some of the people who still post are people I've added when I was into a particular fandom, and now that the show is over or whatever, we don't have anything in common ( ... )

In my observation, most everyone I know on LJ spends most of their time on Tumblr now. Seriously, the art community that's going back and forth over there is GORGEOUS, and it's addicting. But my fault with it is the lack of conversation. I use Facebook mostly to stay in touch with RL family/friends. For the most part it's how I keep my "two worlds" separate. :/ lol I have a Twitter, but I rarely use it except to follow the occasional celebrity. I still try to get on LJ here and there and update what's going on, but I think I feel like no one's reading any more, and so I don't bother as much as I used to. I'm wondering, maybe we're all doing the same thing. And no one wants to jump back in. lol I certainly hope it doesn't disappear completely though. I'm not ready to give up LJ ( ... )

I'm still here and will never get rid of my LJ! LJ's the place where i like to post my personal thoughts on things going on for me. So i'll still be here. But am trying to start blogging again - http://rav-ished.net - there i'll only post things which aren't personal, but random stuffs and photos and things. But they're all cross posted to LJ.

I do tweet a lot, not so much a facebooker, but you won't be able to get rid of me from LJ!
