Fic: more btvs_santa bits

Jan 01, 2010 15:23

You know my propensity for writing tiny, bite-sized fics? Yeah, I did some of that for ladyofthelog as well. ;) To fill some of her other requests, I wrote a little S2 Whistler POV piece, a Fuffy drabble, and a linked pair Spuffy holiday drabbles. That's somewhere in the neighborhood of 7300 words for this project, which means I basically doubled my yearly ( Read more... )

Ooh, neat! Whistler's hard, but I think you nailed him!

Why, thank you!

I spent entirely too much time watching his scenes to try to get his voice. He really is a bit of a pain sometimes. When Buffy gave him the verbal smackdown for wasting her time in Part II, I was sort of cheering her on. ;)

Nice job on the Whistler edits!

And hee! on the sparkly vampire. Must not think too hard about applying tinsel...

All of these are great, but I absolutely love the Whistler bits -- particularly Willow's.

Why, thank you! That Whistler piece - I have no idea where that came from. I knew I was going to do "First Dance" for the main submission, but with the vacation to my sister's for the week around Christmas, I was really worried about whether I'd be able to pull off that longer piece and so was determined to do *something* as an advance gift (it was posted to btvs_santa back on the 22nd or so). It was during a re-watch of "Becoming" in preparation for "First Dance" that the Whistler fic idea popped into my head. It sort of fell out on the page in a hurry (I think the Spike bit was first - surprise! LOL). Willow's was actually the toughest to do because of the foreshadowing element in the speeches. I wasn't entirely sure I was going to get Willow out of the dark!magic place in the piece, but suddenly that last bit came into focus (in part due to some hammering away by readerjane!). Glad it worked.

Geez, could I *be* more long-winded in saying thanks? Well, yes, of course I could. ;) But I'll wrap up anyway.

The Whistler voice-overs were spot on. Very enjoyable character studies, indeed!

“Sodding Stephenie Meyer,” Spike grumbled. “At least I only sparkle on Christmas Eve.”

R.O.T.F.L.M.A.O.!!! :D

See, there was another thing I just couldn't resist - the Twilight smackdown. ;)

Ten Years of Tinsel Tradition! Golly! And you can tell that Dawn is all grown-up, because they are all being perfectly frank. (Blushes and all.) Nifty!

These are all really interesting. I wonder how far ahead Whistler is thinking in his foreshadowing? With Spike, the choice he makes is hours (if that) away, but with Willow, Xander, and Giles, the issues might surface in a small way in the immediate emergency, but they don't really bear fruit (even if spoiled fruit) for years. It's a bit of a head-spinner! Anyway, fantastic job.

I'm going to try to get to your S2 piece soon. (It's a little kink of mine to see those Spuffy seeds sown early.)

Mmm, mesmerized by your icon... ;)

Glad you liked these!

With Spike, the choice he makes is hours (if that) away,

I *think* I was imagining that Whistler's words could stretch all the way through such decisions as getting his soul and even wearing the amulet (and really, I suppose, even beyond that as well, to what happens afterward in LA). That "None of us is finished, not until our time here is done" was my way of trying to push this issue of making decisions into the future.

with Willow, Xander, and Giles, the issues might surface in a small way in the immediate emergency, but they don't really bear fruit (even if spoiled fruit) for years.

Well, yay. That is exactly what I was going for!
