Yeah, they just finished with the construction and everything at the end of December. But they started on everything about the time I was 3/4 done with my year on JET. So it took about 2 years?
What a beautiful school. *-* You're so lucky to have taught there... I hear lately that JET is getting far more competitive. I'm kind of getting concerned that it won't be a viable option by the time I graduate.
No... actually, I didn't get to teach in that school building. They were still constructing at the time.. D= I taught in the building in the back of this pic: http://pics.livejournal.com/jen_kat/pic/001tq26y
Yeah, JET is getting more competitive. Partly because more schools are going private with private companies (which pay less than JET therefore are cheaper options than JET), but people still want to apply to JET so the pool of applicants is bigger. Aside from JET, there are other eikaiwa options. It doesn't hurt to look into more places while you're still waiting to graduate. =)
I remember while I was waitlisted for JET, I was also looking into http://www.shinkyogakuin.com/, which I had really good communications with (probably due to the guy I was talking with originally being on JET and all) and would have gone with if I hadn't gotten upgraded in JET.
