I've been looking online for a place where adults can take Japanese classes, and not just for the Beginner and Intermediate levels. I found one place called Langauge Door that is located on Santa Monica Blvd., but they don't list what they do for Advanced classes (have to call to find out the details). It's 8 weeks (8 classes) for about $250, I ( Read more... )

Most, if not all of those schools (still have to check a couple), are for 4-18 year olds. I went to Sawtelle Institute of Japanese, and know people who went to Asahi Gakuen. And when I was researching, I found that the Venice one is also for kids.

Oh, nice. Thanks for the links to Speed Anki & Read the Kanji. I need to study for JLPT 2, and kanji is something I'm seriously behind on!

i would also recommend berlitz, but for very advanced levels, they recommend one on one tutoring/conversation, which is quite expensive.

Okay, even though you've got everyone else's advice, I HAVE to come in and say that a friend and I went to Language Door a very long time ago and I kinda regretted it.

We happened to get a very lazy teacher who didn't do very much and it was not at all worth the cost. They also made me buy a $50 textbook that we never touched.

A few years ago I met someone from Berlitz who told me about a program after which their tutors guarantee you to be ready to pass whatever exam you want! Only trouble is it was intense (like 8 hours a day twice a week) and iirc around $4000. And I wasn't sure that meant you'd really /retain it/ you know?

Anyway good luck whichever route you take :)

I see.. thank you for your input and advice. =D

Hm... I guess it's most likely that I'll just try and discipline myself more for studying.
